About our pool filters service
Cartridge filters are the most common in modern Brisbane pools — great filtration, easy to service, but the elements need proper deep-cleaning every 6–12 months and replacement every 3–5 years. We stock genuine cartridges for Waterco, Astral, Davey, Onga and Zodiac.
Sand filters are workhorses — the media itself only needs replacing every 5–7 years, but we can upgrade to glass media which filters finer, lasts longer and uses less backwash water.
For older DE (diatomaceous earth) filters we can service or convert to a modern cartridge or media system, usually keeping the existing plumbing.

How often should cartridge elements be replaced?+
Deep-cleaned every 6 months and replaced every 3–5 years depending on pool use. Squashed pleats, broken end caps or permanent brown staining all mean it's time.
Is glass media better than sand?+
Yes — filters down to a finer particle size, lasts 2–3 times longer, and needs less backwashing. The upfront cost is only marginally higher.
Can you re-media my sand filter?+
Absolutely — usually a same-day job. We remove the old sand, inspect the laterals, and refill with fresh media or glass.
